What are model tags and how/when are they used?
Tag your models to group, streamline, and limit selections during inventory
If you work in parallel projects or have a large model library and want to group models for example to limit visibility or control selections during inventory, you can use model tags.
Model tags are applied at model level and are different from tags used at article level (such as other tags, next step, and destination). In other words, model tags are applied directly to the model itself.
How to tag your models
You can add model tags to existing models or assign them when creating new models during inventory.
Tag an existing model
-
Log in to the web app at palats.io.
-
Go to Models in the left-hand menu.
-
Click the edit (pencil) icon to edit the model.
-
At the bottom of the specification flow, you’ll find Model tags.
-
Select an existing tag if available, or
-
Create a new one by entering the name of the tag.
Model tags you create will be visible to all users in your organization.
-
-
Save the model when you’re done.
Create a tag during inventory
-
Log in to the Palats mobile app and follow the inventory flow. If you’re unsure how to inventory, you can read more about it here.
-
When you reach the step where you fill in the model specifications, you’ll find the Model tags field at the bottom.
-
Choose an existing tag, or
-
Create a new one by entering the desired tag name.
-
-
Continue and create the articles linked to the model.
-
Once you’ve saved the model and its article(s), the model will be tagged, and the model tag will be saved as an available option for future use.
Lock a model tag during inventory
During inventory, you can choose to only show models with a specific model tag. By searching for and locking a tag, the model suggestions are filtered to this selection, and any new models created will automatically receive the same model tag.
-
Select a location and structure, and follow the standard inventory flow (take one or more photos and add a QR code if applicable).
-
Click Search in model library.
-
Search for your tag in the search field at the top.
-
Click the pin icon to lock the tag—only models with this tag will now be shown in the model library.
-
Select one of the models, or click the plus icon at the bottom to create a new model.
💡 You can also search for specific specifications in the search field at the top if you want to further narrow down your selection.
