New and Improved Marketplace

How to customize the look and content of your marketplace as an administrator

Make your marketplace personal - customize emails, footer and appearance

As an administrator, you can use the channel settings to decide what type of information is shown to customers at checkout, in order confirmations, or in the footer of your marketplace. You can also add your logo and a custom banner on the homepage.

Edit emails texts - Customize the content of the emails sent out with orders. Add important information or for example, contact details that are shared with the customer who placed an order.

Customize the footer - Add contact information, links, or other key details to the footer so your customers always have the right information close at hand.

Change the appearance of your marketplace - Add a welcoming image on the homepage and upload your logo to create a consistent and attractive experience that reflects your brand.

Checkout settings - Decide which fields customers must fill in at checkout. This helps gather the necessary details for those of you working with invoicing.

Order management - Choose how your orders should be handled.

Please note that you must be an administrator or owner to access and edit vendors, target groups and store profiles. For some settings, assistance from Palats is required if you want to make changes.  Get in touch with your Customer Success Manger or contact us in the chat or at support@palats.io.

Vendors and Target groups - Two New Concepts

Those of you who have been with us for a while are familiar with the concept of channels, where each channel leds to its own marketplace. Now it´s simpler - all listings are gathered in one single marketplace.

Instead of channels, we now have Vendors. These are groups that can create ads on the marketplace. You can also configure which delivery options are available for each advertiser.

To decide who gets to see what, you use Target groups. This means you can control which listings different users (target groups) have access to.

👉 Example: One target group may only see listings from vendors 1, while another can see listings from vendors 1, 2 and 3.

In short: everything is displayed on the same page, but with audiences you decide which listings each user sees.

Advertiser

General

Type of advertiser - who publishes and is responsible for the listings and their content.

There are two types of advertisers:

A responsible team

  • One or several selected users share the responsibility for the listings.
  • A present pick up adress is used, for example when circulation is handled by a centralized hub. Otherwise, the address can vary and be set per listing.
  • Possible to configure so that all orders go to the same email adress.
  • Advertising can be done with or without pricing.
  • Best suited if, for example, you tun a reuse hub or a warehouse where dedicated staff manage the listing.

Personal responsibility

  • Each listing is personal and published under and manage by the individual user.
  • Listings can be done with or without pricing.
  • Best suited if listings are created from different addresses and a large number of users should be able to create listings - either from various locations within Palats or directly on-site at the marketplace.

Delivery

There are three possible delivery options to choose from. Within the delivery section, you can also customize the texts that customers receive in their order confirmation, delivery booking confirmation, delivery reminder emails, as well as the info text displayed at checkout.

  • Delivery - The customer selects a delivery date at checkout. Delivery and order management are then handled by an administrator.
  • Pick up at location via self-service in the app - The customer is responsible for preparing and collecting their order via the Palats app.
  • Pick up at location via pick up - The customer collects the items at a location where a staff member is responsible for handing out and managing the order in Palats. This could be at a warehouse if a team is advertising, or at the adress of another employee in the organization if the listing was created under personal responsibility.

Customize Communication About Delivery Methods

Where delivery methods are presented, you can add clarifying details and conditions to make visitor´s chose easier. The texts below can be customized for each stage.

Listings / Shopping Cart - Add information about requirements such in the listing and under the articles in the shopping cart.

Order Confirmation - Sent via email directly after the customer has confirmed their order. This message should inform the customer about their order and conditions fot the chosen delivery method. It is also recommended to include contact details for customer support.

Checkout - Text displayed in checkout or the selected delivery method. This can include, for example a note about additional transport costs.

Shopping Cart & Checkout

Time Limit - Set how long items can remain reserved in a shopping cart. Items not ordered within the time limit automatically become available for others to purchase.

Checkout Form Settings - Choose which information you want to collect when a customer places an order. In addition to the standard visible fields, you can add customers places an order. In addition to the standard visible fields, you can add custom fields if it´s important to collect details such as apartment numbers. This is managed under "manage custom fields" further down the page.

Registering Articles Destinations - By having the customer register the location/adress where articles will end up, you gain better traceability and statistical insights into reuse. This is useful when items need to be recorded under the property where they will be used. It is also possible to set whether a related project should be specified.

Notifications

You can choose whether to send reminders about old listings that have been published for more than a month. You can also enter an email adress to receive copies of all incoming orders.

Order Management

Automatic order cancellation after time limit

Here you can configure automatic cancellation of orders after a set time limit. This ensures that ordered articles do not remain unused or uncollected.

Pickup Areas

Sometimes used in larger warehouses where specific pickup areas are designated for order collection an distribution. Each delivery method can be linked to one or more pickup areas when managing orders.

Target groups

A Target group consists of a group of users with varying permissions to order from different Vendors.

Does the selection consist of logged-in users or anonymous visitors?

A target group may in some cases only include logged-in users, while in other cases it can be a public marketplace where the target group that visits and places orders does not need to be logged in.

What can the target group do with the listings displayed to them?

There are two options. Either the target group can view and place orders from the listing shown, or you can set it so they can only view the listing without being able to place an order.

How should prices be displayed?

If pricing is used , you can choose whether visitors should see prices including or excluding VAT (Value Added Tax). This is common for public marketplaces that are visited by both private and business customers.

Storefront

Here you can give your homepage a more personal look by uploading a banner and your logo. You can also add information in the footer, which is displayed at the bottom of the marketplace.

Appearance

Choose one of the preset images or upload your own.  You can select which part of the image to display and even apply an image effect if you wish. Keep in mind that the image should be high-resolution and in PGN or JPEG format.

Communication

Web address

Give your store a customized web address. If you have external target groups (public marketplace), a custom web address is required.

Custom message in information banner

Add a message that will be displayed at the top of the marketplace . For example, this can be used to inform visitors that store will be closed during a holiday.

Footer content

Here you can add information to the footer, which is displayed at the bottom of the marketplace. This is a good place to include contact details, opening, hours and a short description of what you offer and how you work. Do you have a physical store or pickup location Make sure to state this clearly in the footer so customers know what applies.
