Palats part 2 - How to take inventory

Here´s how you take inventory using the mobile app

Before heading out to inventory, an administrator needs to have created the location(s) you’ll be working with. A location is a digital representation of a physical building, office, or similar space.

📚 At the bottom of this section, you’ll find more chapters if you want to explore Palats in greater depth.

Who is this for?

This section is intended for both administrators and members – in other words, anyone who has permission to inventory one or more locations.
Depending on how your organization works, you may also be listing items on a marketplace as part of the inventory process.

Model vs. Item – what’s the difference?

In Palats, we work with Models and Items – and here’s how they differ:

Model

  • A model is a product type that can exist in many unique instances (called items).

  • Model-specific fields are shared across all items of that model.

  • If you have the same armchair in another color, it’s considered a different model.

Article

  • An article is the actual piece of furniture – a specific unit belonging to a model.

  • Articles have their own unique attributes like condition and location.

  • Articles that share a model have the same model specifications, but each article has its own article-specific data.

💙 Tip! If your organization has a standard product range, you can create your models in advance. That way, they’ll be ready in your model library and can be quickly added during inventorying. See video below.
