How to merge models
How to Identify duplicate models and merge them
This article is intended for administrators in Palats who are responsible for managing their organization's model library.
Sometimes the same model may be created more than once, for example when different users inventory items under separate models that actually represent the same product or item type. This can result in duplicate models in the model library, making it more difficult to keep information organized and searchable.
By merging models, you can consolidate all items under a single model and avoid unnecessary duplicates.
How to merge models- Go to Models in Palats.
- Filter by category and other relevant specifications to narrow down your selection.
- Switch to Gallery View under Customize to more easily identify duplicates visually.
- Select the two models you want to merge.
- Click Merge.
- Compare the model specifications and choose which values should be applied to the final model. The resulting model is displayed in the rightmost column.
- Confirm the merge.
Once the models have been merged, all items will be moved to the model that is retained, and the other model will be removed.
Tips for maintaining a well-structured model libraryNote: A merge cannot be undone. Any items that are currently listed in advertisements will be reassigned to the merged model.
To keep your model library organized over time, we recommend assigning a dedicated person to manage it. This person can be responsible for:
- Updating model information when needed.
- Ensuring naming conventions follow your organization's guidelines.
- Identifying and merging duplicate models.
- Removing models that are no longer in use.
- Ensuring new models are created consistently.
Having clear ownership of the model library reduces the risk of duplicates and helps maintain a higher-quality, more reliable database.
