How to change ownership and transfer a location from one organization to another
In some cases you might want to change ownership of a location, for example when handing over a completed inventory to a customer. We'll go through how to do this in a few steps below.
The receiving organisation has to be created before, and an invitation can be sent to an email associated with a Palats account.
This is a beta feature, therefore if you’d like to transfer a location, you’ll need to contact us so we make it available for you.
Preparing for transfer
Because you will no longer have access to this location (unless you ask the new owner for an invitation or to have the ownership transferred back to you), it’s important to consider a few things:
- Complete any pending tasks related to the location.
- Ensure that all parties involved are informed about the upcoming change, including the new owner.
- Guide the new owner on how to maintain the new location.
Note that even though you won’t have access to the location after it has been transferred, you can still view it on the “Analyze” page, in case you'd like to measure your work at that site.
Here's how you do it!
1. Log in to the web app.
2. Click on a location and choose Edit location up in the right corner.
3. Click on More actions and choose Transfer ownership.
4. Add the receiver's email adress.
5. Confirm by clicking Transfer ownership, which will send an email to the receiver where they can accept the transfer.
What happens once the location been transferred?
Once the new owner has accepted to take over the location, you will be informed via email. The location will then be removed from your Palats account but will still be available as a filter on the ”Analyze” page, so you can keep track of the it’s impact until the transfer of ownership.
The new owner on the other hand will have access to all the articles and anonymised history of events, and can immediately continue updating the location and inventoried articles.
If you in the future find yourself in a situation where you need to make adjustments to the initial data we propose that the new owner creates a project, adds the location to the project and proceeds to add you as a project member. From there you can work with the location as before but in the new owners’ organisation.
