How to create a new location before taking iventory

Before taking inventory, you prepare the work in Palats by creating a new location. Your Location represents the property or building you are going to take inventory in. Here, we'll walk you through how to set up your new location in the web app, divide it into various branches, and upload a floor plan. You can build the structure of your location by adding floor plans or creating folders for the different floors and rooms in the building.

Add a Location

1. Go to 'Locations' in the left menu.
2. Click on 'New Location'
3. Upload an image of your location and fill in the location's 'Name,' 'Address,' and any 'Additional Location Info'.
4. Scroll down to 'Building Layout' and build the structure according to one of the following two options.

Option 1 - Division with Floor Plan

1. Click on 'Add Floor Plan' under the construction. 
2. Choose a floor plan from the dropdown menu, and you can optionally enter a name for the floor.
3. Click 'Upload a Floor Plan' and select 'Save'
4. Your first location division is now created, and the map icon indicates that a floor plan is linked to the location division.

Option 2 - Division via Folder Structure

If you lack a floor plan, you can instead create a new division and divide this floor into folders.

1. Click on 'Add Floor Plan' under 'Building Layout.'
2. Choose a floor from the dropdown menu or enter a number, and you can optionally name your floor.
3. Choose 'Save' without uploading any floor plan.
4. Now you can start creating rooms linked to Floor 2 by clicking/hovering over Floor 2 and then '+'
5. Select the type of division and then enter a number and/or name for the division. If you want to add multiple rooms in a row, click 'Create Multiple' Press 'Save' or 'Enter' between each room you create.
6. When you're done with your location, click 'Save Changes'

7. You can now go to your location and view the completed structure
