Analyze – How to Track Events on Articles

In Analyze within Palats, you can monitor and interpret various events associated with articles in your inventory. The system helps you track important activities, making it easier to manage, analyze, and understand how your resources are used. Below, we go through the seven events that can occur and their definitions based on how your organization uses Palats.

We also go over the differences between various dimensions of analysis, such as purchase price, corresponding new price, and sales price, to connect these to your events.

External Marketplace

For those who list articles on an external marketplace, i.e., where users can order articles without having a Palats login, articles can have the following events in Analyze:

  • Created – Every article inventoried in Palats is registered as created.
  • Moved – If an article is moved from one location to another, it is registered as moved. When you move an article, you will be asked if you want to register the move as internally reused. If the article is moved to replace a new purchase, you can choose this to gather statistics.
  • Sold – A transaction on the marketplace is automatically registered as sold but can also occur if you manually archive an article and register it as sold.
  • Internally Reused – Internal reuse occurs when you reuse something in your inventory instead of purchasing new. This can happen in the following ways:
    • Through a move where the relocation is logged as internal reuse.
    • By manually archiving an article and logging it as internally reused.
  • Discarded – If an article is manually archived and logged as disposed.
  • Lost – If an article is manually archived and logged as lost.
  • Donated – If an article is manually archived and logged as donated.

Internal Marketplace

For those with a marketplace where users must log in to place orders and the listed inventory does not necessarily have to be in a warehouse or storage but can be listed directly from a project or, for example, a department within a municipality:

  • Created – Every article inventoried in Palats is registered as created.
  • Moved – If an article is moved from one location to another, it is registered as moved. When you move an article, you will be asked if you want to register the move as internally reused. If the move is made to replace a new purchase, select yes. If the move is only to relocate the article to storage or because an employee is moving to a new room, the move is counted only as moved, not as internal reuse.
  • Sold – An item is registered as sold in one of the following two ways:
    • Through a transaction on the marketplace, a transaction is automatically registered as sold, whether the item is free or not.
    • By manually archiving an article and logging it as sold.

Reuse Hub – Marketplace

For those with a marketplace where users must log in to place orders and listed items are tied to a warehouse or storage:

  • Created – Every article inventoried in Palats is registered as created.
  • Moved – If an article is moved from one location to another, it is registered as moved. When you move an article, you will be asked if you want to register the move as internally reused. If the move is made to replace a new purchase, select yes. If the move is simply to relocate an article to storage, it is not counted as internal reuse.
  • Internally Reused – Internal reuse occurs when you reuse something in your inventory instead of purchasing new. This can happen in the following ways:
    • A transaction via the marketplace is automatically registered as internally reused, whether the item is free or not.
    • Through a move where the relocation is logged as internal reuse.
    • By manually archiving an article and logging it as internally reused.
  • Sold – If an article is manually archived and logged as sold.
  • Discarded– If an article is manually archived and logged as disposed.
  • Lost – If an article is manually archived and logged as lost.
  • Donated – If an article is manually archived and logged as donated.

Asset Management

For those managing their inventory in Palats but not using a marketplace:

  • Created – Every article inventoried in Palats is registered as created.
  • Moved – If an article is moved from one location to another, it is registered as moved. When you move an article, you will be asked if you want to register the move as internally reused. If the move is made to replace a new purchase, select yes. If the move is only to relocate the article to storage or because an employee is moving to a new room, it is counted only as moved, not as internal reuse.
  • Internally Reused – Internal reuse occurs when you reuse something in your inventory instead of purchasing new. This can happen in the following ways:
    • Through a move where the relocation is logged as internal reuse.
    • By manually archiving an article and logging it as internally reused.
  • Sold – If an article is manually archived and logged as sold.
  • Discarded – If an article is manually archived and logged as disposed.
  • Lost – If an article is manually archived and logged as lost.
  • Donated – If an article is manually archived and logged as donated.

Dimensions of Analysis

In addition to CO2e and weight, you can also choose to display purchase price, corresponding new price, and sales price under dimensions of analysis:

  • Equivalent New Price – What it would have cost to purchase a new article instead of reusing. The savings achieved through reuse.
  • Purchase Price – What you paid for the article when it was purchased
  • Sales Price – For those who specify a price on their listed articles, this shows what the goods were sold for.
